COL Baiden graduated from Conway High School; attended Clemson College; joined the South Carolina National Guard on 15 Nov 1955; and received his commission from Palmetto Military Academy. He completed the basic armor course in 1962; the U.S. Army Aviation Fixed Wing Flight School in1964; the U.S. Army Aviation O1-A and U6-A IP Course in 1967; The Army Career Course in 1970; the U.S. Army Aviation Rotary Wing Qualification Course in 1971; and the OH-58 IP Course in 1972. He became a full-time civil service guardsman in 1971 with the Army Aviation Support Facility at McEntire Air National Guard Base.
During his career, he served in many positions in the South Carolina Army National Guard, such as State Aviation Safety Officer, Director of Personnel HQ STARC, Director of State Aviation and Safety HQ STARC, and Aviation Support Facility Commander.
A graveside service with full military honors was held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery
