DOB 4 Jan 1929 in Meridian, Mississippi

Enlisted 23 Jul 1946 – Ft. Jackson, SC at the age of 17 ½

Trained at Kessler AFB.  Went to Airplane Engine Mechanic in Mar 1947 where he graduated as an AP Power Plant Mechanic 684-A.

Departed in Jun 1947 for duty in Japan and returned to Shaw AFB May 1949.

Charlie was a member a military family.

At one point in time he and his four siblings were all serving in different branches of the military.

He was separated from the Air Force on 22 Jul 1949 as S Sgt. DOR 1 Feb 1949.

After meeting all requirements to become a private pilot, Charlie was issued his license on 17 Dec 1950.

1955 he was the first OH-23 mechanic to attend mechanic school.

Charlie retired from the National Guard 20 Mar 1978 where he was a member of Troop D, 1st 101st Cav. with 30 years of service including 3 years of active duty.
