Bill graduated from University High School in Columbia, South Carolina and University Of South Carolina.  He completed Army Aviation Rotary Wing  School Feb 1967 and MOI, at Fort Stewart, Georgia in 1968.  

     From March of 1967 to March 1968 he served with the 48th Assault Helicopter Company (Blue Stars) in Viet Nam as a Slick Pilot flying 1150 combat hours.  

     After Vietnam, Bill joined the SC National Guard where he was a flight instructor and retired after 22 years total with 4,500 flight hours.  He joined the 51st Assault Helicopter Company in St. Matthews in May of 1970 rated in the OH-13, CH-34 and UH-1 aircraft.

     He retired in Jacksonville, Florida.
